Date: 3 July 2025Time: 19:30 – 23:00Location: Zentrum Wiesengrund, Wöhrmühle 7, 91056 Erlangen

On Thursday, 3 July, No Name Kitchen and the Refugee Law Clinic Erlangen-Nuremberg invite you to a joint film screening of the documentary ‘Shadow Game’ at 7:30 pm at Zentrum Wiesengrund (Wöhrmühle 7, 91056 Erlangen). Prior to the screening, there will be an input from No Name Kitchen about the situation of people on the move in Bulgaria and the RLC will also introduce you to their work.

Founded in 2017, No Name Kitchen is an independent movement along the Balkan, Mediterranean and Maghreb routes that fights for the freedom of movement for all through humanitarian and political actions. Activists are currently active in eight locations in Italy, Spain, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria and support people on the move on their journey through Europe by providing first aid, distributing food and clothing and documenting the systematic violence at European borders.

‘Shadow Game’ (2021) is a documentary by Eefje Blankevoort and Els van Drie that tells the story of young people on the move along the Balkan route. The film was made over a period of three years and was partly filmed by the protagonists themselves with their phones. It documents their attempts - through snow-covered forests, over high fences and despite armed border guards - to reach Western Europe via the Balkans. They call it ‘to go on game’, because every step they take towards their destination can also end in a violent pushback. The film is a testimony of Europe's migration policy and shows the violent realities at the borders which people on the move face.
