Workshop: “Absolute Rights under the ECHR at State Borders”

The Chair for Human Rights and Migration Law at FAU Erlangen–Nürnberg (Prof. Dr. Grażyna Baranowska) invites researchers from all career stages to submit papers for the workshop “Absolute Rights under the ECHR at State Borders”.
The workshop will be on 9–10 November 2026 and examine the role of absolute rights—particularly Article 3 ECHR—in the context of migration, pushbacks and border violence, against the backdrop of pending Grand Chamber cases on the EU-Belarus border.
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Vladislava Stoyanova (Lund University).
The deadline for abstract submissions is 10 May 2026.
