On June 24, FAU CHREN had the pleasure of co-hosting an inspiring day with the International Nuremberg Principles Academy – featuring a workshop and an evening lecture by Prof. Dr. Kathryn Sikkink.

Her lecture, titled “Is the Justice Cascade Over? Accountability in an Era of Impunity”, focused on the development of individual criminal responsibility for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and human rights violations – and on the global decline in prosecutions for these crimes since 2010.

Professor Sikkink presented new data and analyzed potential explanations for this documented trend. The data is available on the website of the Transitional Justice Evaluation Tools (TJET).

We would like to thank all participants and contributors for their great interest and the engaging discussions.
