The Cluster of Excellence “Transforming Human Rights”, based at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), addresses fundamental questions about the potential and limits of human rights in the context of several major worldwide transformation processes. For more information, see here. The Cluster’s Research Innovation Hub will contribute to fostering inter- and transdisciplinary research within a large-scale, multi-year consortium by helping to identify and pursue new lines of scholarship. It will address overarching theoretical and conceptual questions of human rights that span the different lines of research pursued in the Cluster.
For the funding period 2026-2032, we seek a substantively qualified and highly motivated
researcher at the postdoc level (TVL-13) for a position attached to the Cluster’s Research Innovation Hub.
Within an intellectually stimulating, collaborative, and international team environment, the postdoc will conduct independent and joint, theoretically ambitious research on human rights that aligns with the Cluster’s overall research agenda (approximately 60% of the full-time position). There will be the opportunity to pursue a habilitation project.

The Cluster of Excellence “Transforming Human Rights”, based at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), addresses fundamental questions about the potential and limits of human rights in the context of several major worldwide transformation processes. The Cluster’s Postdoc program is unique both in content and scope providing an exceptional environment to unite outstanding talents and to prepare them for human rights careers in academia and praxis. up to five Postdoctoral Researchers (f/m/d) Full-time (TV-L E13) | three years
Within an intellectually stimulating, highly collaborative and international team environment, the postdocs will conduct independent as well as collaborative, conceptually and empirically ambitious research on human rights that aligns with the Cluster’s overall research agenda. The Cluster examines the transformation of human rights norms, institutions, and practices in the context of five megatrends: autocratization, planetary environmental crises, migration, fragmented economic globalization, and digitalization.

Doctoral Program and Data Management Coordinator (m/f/d) 75% (TV-L E13) | 2026-2032.
The coordinator will work in a highly interdisciplinary, international and collaborative team environment in Nürnberg. The position offers ample opportunities to contribute and further develop professional skills related to coordination and management careers in academia.
Responsibilities and Opportunities
Program coordination: Develop and execute the doctoral program in coordination with responsible principal investigators and other cluster programs such as the postdoc and fellow program.
Data management and quality assurance: Develop and maintain cluster-wide data management and data protection concepts, including metadata standards. Develop guidelines for data management and security. Gain familiarity with data protection law (especially DSGVO) and plan and monitor workflows for quality assurance within the research information system.
Monitoring and reporting: Prepare reports and statistical evaluations in close collaboration with the data steward and other cluster
Networking and interface management: Build and maintain a research collaboration platform, network doctoral candidates with postdocs and international fellows, and serve as focal point between IT, research, and research reporting.
Consulting and training: Support and train doctoral candidates and cluster project groups in data
