Engagement with UN Special Procedures: Workshop at FAU CHREN
FAU CHREN recently hosted a workshop for postdoctoral researchers on Engagement with UN Special Procedures. The workshop was led by Professor Dr Grażyna Baranowska, Chair of Migration Law and Human Rights.
Professor Baranowska has been a member of a UN Special Procedures working group for the past three years. In 2022, she was appointed by the UN Human Rights Council as an independent expert to the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances. In this role, she brings first-hand experience of how UN Special Procedures engage with and draw on academic expertise.
Practical Insights: Academic Engagement and UN Special Procedures
The workshop offered postdocs practical insights into pathways for academic engagement with UN Special Procedures. Drawing on her own experience, Professor Baranowska also reflected on her earlier cooperation with Special Procedures as a scholar, particularly during her time as an early career researcher. The session highlighted the opportunities and benefits such engagement can offer for postdoctoral research and academic career development.
