Since the winter semester 2025/26, FAU CHREN has once again been hosting the FAU CHREN Brown Bag Lunches. Organized by Dr. Eline Waerp and Dr. Caroline Lichuma, the series is aimed at early-career researchers who wish to present and discuss their research projects, theses, or initial ideas.
Safe space for academic exchange
The goal of the format is to provide an informal yet supportive and academically stimulating environment during a shared lunch break. Presenters are offered the opportunity to speak about their work and receive valuable feedback to help refine their presentations or research— particularly before presenting in more formal academic settings.
Overview of previous presentations
The first session of the renewed series was led by Dr. Eline Waerp, who presented her research on “The Digitalization of EU Air Border Controls and the Normalization of Banal Securitization.” Other recent speakers include Dr. Julia Stefanello Pires with a talk on “Corporate Accountability in Critical Raw Materials Supply Chains: Perspectives from Latin America,” and Stephanie Regalia, who presented a chapter of her doctoral dissertation entitled “The Nature of Corporate Human Rights Due Diligence Obligations: To What Extent Can We Draw from International Human Rights Law to Interpret Corporate Obligations?”
