Dr. Muhammad Asif Khan is a Research Fellow at the Center for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (CHREN), funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Georg Forster Fellowship for Experienced Researchers since February 2026. He is affiliated with the NUST Law School at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, and is hosted at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg by Professor Markus Krajewski.

His research focuses on the intersection of international economic law, business and human rights, and the Right to Development. In particular, he examines how trade, investment, and corporate regulation frameworks can be better aligned with human rights obligations and equitable development goals. During his fellowship, he is investigating how legal frameworks can support social justice and inclusive development, drawing on comparative analysis and case studies from South Asia.

His work aims to contribute to a more coherent and just global economic order by strengthening the links between legal scholarship and real-world human rights challenges.
